About Me

me-bw-trans“Me” is really two personalities: one the geeky web developer who was once a programmer and has for her working life killed far too many brain cells from sitting in front of a computer; the other is an outgoing, talkative, dancer and dance teacher.

The web developer in me has a strong interest in Web 2.0 technologies, web standards, usability, accessibility and design for the web. With over 10 years in the industry and a degree in Computer Science, I have been running my own web design business since 2005 (www.spiraldesigns.com.au) helping the world of small business embrace the web and helping internet startups launch successful sites as well as helping out some larger companies such as Sensis and The Eclipse Group.

On the other hand, I am a dancer and a dance teacher; in 2008 I studied a Certificate IV in Dance Teaching and now I teach kids and adults at a couple of schools around Melbourne.  My preferred styles are ballet and jazz but I also love tap and hip-hop.  I’m also very interested in anatomy in relation to dance.  I am of the opinion that you are never too old to do something you are passionate about and encourage other adults to take up dancing for fun and exercise.

On top of these two vastly different interests I also love reading, drawing, painting, digital photography and writing and learning about food and nutrition. I was born in Cornwall, England and have lived all over England and in many suburbs around Melbourne, Australia as well as spending two years in Amsterdam (The Netherlands).  I now live in East St Kilda, a suburb of Melbourne, with my husband and 7 6 goldfish.  We plan on eventually returning to live in Amsterdam and are currently learning to speak Dutch.
