The end of melalouise.net?

Right now I’m pretty upset because my melalouise.net domain, which I’ve proudly owned for 5 years (I love my p[at]melalouise.net address, even if it sometimes fails authentication) recently expired, without my receiving a reminder or renewal, and within 2 days was in the ownership of someone in the UK, under another registratar.  Of course, I only noticed after receiving a number of errors when trying to download my emails from that domain.  I’ve contacted my registrar, the UK registrar and the new owner and am yet to hear from the new “owner” (no genuine buyer would have bought the domain that quickly after its expiry).  So the situation is pretty bleak and I’ve somewhat devastated but let’s see how things go.  For now I’ve got this URL but how long until people know it’s here?  I feel like I’m talking to myself…  Well, I know I do that verbally but not usually online.
